Brief Introduction of Belgium national football team
The Belgian team is known as the "De Rode Duivels". In the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, Belgium defeated Spain in the quarter finals and were eliminated 0-2 by Argentina in the semi-finals. They then lost to France in the third place and won the forth place. In the European Championship, the team won third place in the 1972 Belgian European Championship hosted by the local team, and became the runner up in the 1980 European Championship. Belgium also won gold and bronze medals at the 1920 and 1900 Olympic Games, respectively. On November 5, 2015, Belgium ranked first in the national team rankings released by FIFA for the first time. In the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Belgium defeated England to win third place, creating the best World Cup record in team history.
